About the Longlake Marlins
The Longlake Marlins Swim Team is a youth summer swim program competing in the Atlanta Swim Association. The Atlanta Swim Association is a league of approximately 130 summer swim teams. Longlake competes in the North Division of the league. The team was founded and started competing in 2008. The team swims at the Longlake neighborhood pool and has swimmers consisting of Longlake residents, past Longlake residents, as well as some out-of-neighborhood team members. Beginning and experienced swimmers from age 5 to 18 participate in daily practices on weekdays and weekly evening swim meets against local league teams with 5 meets total divided among home and away neighborhood pools. Weekends usually have nothing scheduled unless there is a special circumstance. No swimming experience is required, and the younger kids have the option of swimming as a Mini-Marlin which do not compete for time but swim at meets only as an exhibition swim. Swimmers are instructed by trained and qualified coaches with significant summer swim and year-round swim experience. The season last from practice beginning dates around May 1st until the end of June with the conclusion of the league occurring in June/July with the ASA Championship at Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center. For some swimmers, the summer program continues as qualifying Longlake Marlins swimmers join the Forsyth County Tide Swim Team to compete in the GRPA State Swim Championship.
We are a swim team that balances safety, fun, exercise, technique, competition, sportsmanship, and individual/team support and goal setting. No matter if you're looking for swimming proficiency, exercise, individual growth in and out of the pool, understanding team support, team comradery, or swim stroke technique, from practice to meets to our post meet dance parties, this is an experience that kids and parents will treasure.
The experience is also fulfilling for parents who will serve as supporters and volunteers for the program, sponsors that are an integral part to a successful team and part of the Marlins family, coaches who enjoy the opportunity to share their love of swimming and teaching with beginners and experienced swimmers alike, and family and friends who get to come watch the kids compete in a unique low-key fun environment. Be a part of our family.
GO MARLINS!
