Marlins Minutes from Thursday's Meet, RECORDS, & Notes for the Week
Hello Marlins,
I hope everyone is having a great weekend after our exciting down to the wire victory on Thursday. And yes, that's nearly an exact copy from last week - unbelievable - 2 weeks in a row - we are 2-0 and have won by a total of 3 points. In the previous 6 years we have had just one meet decided by less than 12 points, this season we have had 2 already decided by within 2. It was an awesome job by the team with many exciting close finishes.
We did have another long list of records but let's take care of some housekeeping notes first...
I want to express many thanks to our volunteers - things went well on our first home meet. Home meets take a lot of volunteers and some people stepped up and worked multiple shifts to cover our needs. Thanks again - we couldn't do it without you all.
- We are short 15 volunteers for this week's meet. THE MAIN NEEDS ARE DECK MANAGERS AND BULLPEN. We need everyone who has not signed up to go to the June 16th meet at Aberdeen under Meets & Events and sign up for open volunteer shifts.
- Barely over 1/2 of the swimmers have declared their attendance plans for our next meet - please do this ASAP - same link as above and....... IT TAKES LESS THAN ONE MINUTE SO GO DO IT NOW ; ).
- BIG SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS - WE NOW HAVE AN INSTAGRAM PAGE - CHECK IT OUT AND FOLLOW US .... official longlake marlins (@longlakemarlins) • Instagram photos and videos
- SPIRIT NIGHT @ CHEEKY'S - Cheeky's is having another spirit night fundraiser for us this Wednesday, June 15th. This is not an organized event - just go when it works for you. They will do a revenue share with the team for the night. SO WEDNESDAY NIGHT MAKE CHEEKY'S YOUR FOOD CHOICE!
So, some more details and props on the meet...
We again want to give a special team player thanks to the many swimmers who "swum up" into older age groups and filled in for our age groups that have low numbers for this season. Everyone's efforts are paying off. In meets decided by 1 and 2 points clearly every extra effort is important. Going strong and hard "all the way to the wall" has been a difference maker. Keep it up!
We have a total of 33 swimmers who have reached 10 or more points this season. Twelve have reached 20 points.
Our top 4 in points:
Livvy Tenore, Rachael Brown, Brycn Freeman, Maddox Taulbee
Now to the RECORDS:
The following swimmers have accomplished times this season that fall into the top 5 all-time in an event they competed in - we added 10 new swimmers to the list this week - those in Bold have managed to make the list both weeks...
