Hello Marlins Families,

And a huge congratulations to you and your swimmers. You are now members of the 2023 Forsyth Tide. I also want to share that after a successful ASA Championship yesterday the Longlake Marlins will be the team with the most members of the Forsyth Tide, we have 16 swimmers on the county team going to states. We also have 2 coaches and we are the host pool. A big year for Longlake's participation in the Forsyth Tide program. Great job to everyone. Hello and Congratulations,

If you are receiving this email, you have one or more swimmers who made the Forsyth County TIDE State Swim Team. My name is Chenin Kemmerlin and I am the president of the FoCo TIDE Board. The TIDE is considered a secondary season or "post-season" for our summer swimmers, and so as part of this new team, we have a lot to share with you. We ask that you take time to read all the way through this email for a lot of pertinent information.

FoCo Swimmer Registration

We should all be so proud of our county's swimmers. 88% of those who tried out for state cuts were chosen for the TIDE team. We couldn't be more excited about this competition. There are 86 swimmers that comprise the 2023 FoCo TIDE team!

ACTION REQUIRED: You will need to log onto https://focotide.swimtopia.com and register no later than this Sunday, July 2nd. There are two payment options you will see on the site. This year's fee to join TIDE is $70 per swimmer. Those fees cover the cost of coaches' pay, the t-shirts, caps, expenses to transport tents and materials to Columbus, and administration costs (website fees, insurance, etc). The TIDE board members are NOT paid and are all comprised of volunteers, representatives from each of the pools (summer swim teams in FoCo) who've submitted swimmers.

Practices

Practice begins Monday, July 3rd at the Longlake Pool. (address: 1405 Haddenham Dr., Cumming GA 30040) Practices for 11 and older are from 7:30 am to 9 am. 10 and unders are from 9-10 am. If your child swims for a club team, they do not have to attend regular practices; however, they are required to attend relay practices. Our TIDE Head Coach this year is Colby Langley and our Assistant coaches are Alyssa Knopp and Rachael Brown (congratulations coaches!). Regular practice days are: July 3-7th (except the 4th - no practice) and July 10-13th. Relay Practices - MANDATORY for all swimmers are Wednesdays: July 5th and July 12th. Make notes in your calendars NOW so that your swimmer doesn't miss out.

Please plan accordingly. This is about 2 hours away from us here in Forsyth County, GA. To make warm-up times, you would need to be leaving your homes at 5am!

Friday, July 14th (10 and unders, prelims in morning and finals in the afternoon)

Session 1: Friday morning: Warm up 7:00 am & Start 9:00 am
Session 2: Friday evening: Warm up approximately 2:45 pm & Start 4:00 pm (actual time TBD and announced at the end of prelims)

Saturday, July 15th (11 and older, prelims in the morning and finals in the afternoon)

Session 3: Saturday morning: Warm up 7:00 am & Start 9:00 am
Session 4:Saturday evening: Warm up approximately 2:45 pm & Start 4:00 pm(actual time TBD and announced at the end of prelims)

If you make finals, you must return for finals! NO Exceptions!

Birth Certificates

GRPA requires proof of eligibility by age. The TIDE must submit a copy of each swimmer's birth certificate by July 10th with our state rosters. Even if your swimmer has gone to the state meet before, you all must email [email protected] a scanned copy of the certificate. If you don't have a scanner you can use your notes app, Scannable App or Genius App. If your child's birth certificate is not provided in time, your swimmer will NOT be allowed to compete. This is a GRPA state rule. YES - you have to provide a copy EVERY year!

Communications

We will communicate to our TIDE families based on the emails given in registration on our https://focotide.swimtopia.com account. We also have a FB account that you should join: Forsyth County TIde (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ForsythTideSwim)

SWAG

We are working on ordering T-Shirts and Caps for each and every TIDE swimmer and Coach. The Towels are optional as they have been in recent years. Stay tuned for that information as we continue to try and secure a vendor that can locate the product in a timely manner.
